Privacy policy
How we look after your information when you get in touch with Tuk Tuk UK.
Who we are
Tuk Tuk UK Ltd, Charter House, Woodlands Road, Bowdon, Altrincham, Cheshire WA14 1HF, is the data controller for the personal information described in this policy. You can reach us on 0800 002 9199 or at robert@tuktukuk.com.
What we collect
When you send an enquiry through this website we collect the name, email address, phone number and message you provide, along with the page you enquired from and a technical record of the request used to prevent spam and abuse.
If you contact us by phone or email we keep a record of that correspondence so we can help you properly.
We also collect limited, anonymous information about how visitors use this website — such as the pages viewed and the approximate country or region of the visit — so we can understand which content is useful and improve the site. This does not identify you personally.
Why we use it
We use your details to answer your enquiry, prepare quotes, arrange rentals, deliveries and customisation work, and to keep records of the sales and hires we make. This is necessary to take steps at your request and to run our business.
If you tick the marketing box we may also send you occasional news about our vehicles and offers. You can opt out at any time by replying to any message or emailing us.
How long we keep it
Enquiries are kept for as long as needed to deal with them and for a reasonable period afterwards in case you come back to us. Records relating to sales, hires and finance are kept for as long as required by law and our insurers.
Who we share it with
We share information only where it is needed to deliver what you have asked for — for example with delivery partners, finance providers, insurers or the DVLA — and with the service providers who host this website, store our data and send our email.
We use Metricool to measure anonymous website traffic. Metricool processes anonymous visit data on our behalf; we share with them only the anonymous information described above, never your name, contact details or enquiry content. We never sell your personal data.
Cookies
This website uses the cookies and local storage needed to make it work securely and reliably, plus a single analytics tool (Metricool) that measures anonymous website traffic. We do not set advertising or marketing cookies, and we do not track you across other websites.
When you first visit, a short banner asks whether you are happy for us to use the anonymous analytics. Nothing is loaded from Metricool unless you choose Accept, and choosing Decline keeps it switched off. You can change your mind at any time using the “Cookie settings” link in the footer, or by clearing cookies and blocking tracker.metricool.com in your browser. The essential storage listed below always stays on, because the site cannot work securely without it.
- A sign-in token in your browser's local storage, so you stay signed in securely. This is only stored if you sign in.
- A saved reference to any design in progress on the Customise page, so your work is not lost if you reload the page.
- A technical security and anti-abuse record attached to each enquiry submission. This is kept on our servers, not stored in your browser.
- A Metricool analytics cookie set by tracker.metricool.com, used only if you accept analytics. It lets us count anonymous visits and see which pages are viewed, records no name or contact details, and is used only to understand and improve this website.
Where third-party content such as social media is linked or embedded on a page, that provider may set its own cookies under its own privacy policy. You can control or delete cookies at any time in your browser settings.
We never sell your personal data, and we do not use advertising networks on this site.
Your rights
You have the right to ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to withdraw consent for marketing. Contact us and we will respond within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Security
Enquiry data is stored in access-controlled systems and transmitted over encrypted connections. Access is limited to the people who need it to reply to you.
